03-05-09 - TAXES ON YOUR VEHICLE THIS YEAR MAY BE DEDUCTIBLE!

President Barack Obama recently signed the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009.  One of the highlights of the bill is that it provides all taxpayers with a deduction for State and local sales and excise taxes paid on the purchase of new cars and light trucks through 2009.

This deduction is subject to a phase-out for taxpayers with adjusted gross income in excess of $135,000 ($260,000 in the case of a joint return).  We believe this temporary economic boost is vital to getting customers back into the showroom and spur sales.

If you are in the market for a car this spring, we hope that you will appreciate the notification about upcoming tax increases as well as POTENTIAL TAX WRITE OFFS!

please check with your tax specialist to see if you are eligible.

10-13-08 - New Audi A4 Earns Highest Federal Crash Test Rating

• The redesigned 2009 A4 gains the coveted U.S. government 5-Star safety label for frontal, side and rollover crashes
• Results affirm the strong commitment to safety at Audi
• Top crash safety marks add to A4's segment-leading benefits, including fuel-economy, performance and interior roominess

HERNDON, Va., Oct 10, 2008 - The redesigned 2009 Audi A4 luxury sport sedan gained further validation of its segment-leading qualities by earning the U.S. government’s highest crashworthiness and rollover safety rating.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the A4 achieved the coveted 5-Star designation based on its performance in the New Car Assessment Program, or NCAP. U.S. law requires all passenger cars to pass a 30 mph frontal crash test and a 33.5 mph side crash test. But the NCAP tests involve crashes that are conducted at 5 mph above the required test speeds providing additional consumer safety information. NHTSA then gives ratings of one star for the worst performers to five stars for the best models, such as the Audi A4.

“Unparalleled safety is a cornerstone of Audi’s new vehicle development and we are thrilled to see the A4 earn top marks in one of the toughest crash testing programs in the world,” said Audi of America Inc. Executive Vice President Johan de Nysschen. “Add this to other elements, including segment-leading fuel economy, engine performance, luxury features and size, which all prove the 2009 A4 is at the head of its class.”

The 2009 Audi A4 officially went on sale to American luxury car buyers in late September. The A4 offers advanced safety features and accident-prevention technologies in addition to a significantly stiffer and smoother body shell to protect motorists and passengers. Among the key safety features:
• Front, side and side-curtain airbags are standard equipment in every A4.
• The available dynamic steering system helps stabilize the vehicle several times a second when it detects the car is exceeding its capabilities.
• Available Adaptive cruise control detects a vehicle ahead of the A4 and gently reduces the car’s speed as the distance narrows. Once the road clears, the system slowly accelerates back to the set cruise control speed.

The A4 also offers superior handling due to a front track that is 2.5 inches wider than the closest competing BMW model and nearly an inch wider than the closest Lexus. It also offers more front row shoulder and head room than competing luxury models and a smoother ride helped by the longest wheelbase in its class. The A4 also features a new 2.0-liter TFSI engine that generates 211 hp and 258-lbs-ft. of torque while getting 15 percent better fuel economy than the turbocharged engine it replaces. The improved 3.2-liter engine produces 265 hp and 243 lbs-ft of torque with a 10 percent gain in fuel economy. The new engines are paired with an all-new 6-speed transmission to provide precise shifting and fuel efficiency.

(AUBURN HILLS, MI., May 1, 2008) – Audi hit the red carpet last night at the premiere of Marvel Studios' Iron Man, the summer blockbuster from Paramount Pictures  and Marvel Entertainment due in theaters May 2.  Celebrities arrived at the event in Audi R8’s, Audi Q7 SUV's and A8L sedans.  Tony Stark’s car, the Audi R8, was also on display on the red carpet.

The following stars drove to Hollywood’s Grauman’s Chinese Theater in the exclusive Audi R8, which has a 2-year waitlist:  Jeff Bridges, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau and Terence Howard.  Gwyneth Paltrow arrived in an Audi A8L W12 sedan, and Jack Black, Leslie Bibb and Vince Vaughn were escorted in Audi Q7’s.

Other celebrities in attendance included Rosanna Arquette, Beau Bridges, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, and Jon Voight, among many others.  Following the film, the stars enjoyed the festive Audi-sponsored after party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.  All images from the event are available on WireImage.

“Audi is thrilled to celebrate two great properties this evening – Iron Man and the R8,” said Jeff Kuhlman, Chief Communications Officer for Audi of America.  “Hollywood is the perfect opportunity to showcase this exciting performance of the R8, starring alongside the stellar cast of this crowd-pleasing movie.”

Earlier in the day, a motorcade of 10 police-escorted Audi R8's blitzed the Los Angeles area, the greatest number of R8's ever to be driven together in the U.S.  The vehicles started in downtown Los Angeles and circulated throughout Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood, and Brentwood, ending at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

In the hotly awaited film, Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark – the title character in the film. His superpowers are the result of the highly versatile and indestructible high-tech armor that he developed himself.  When he is without his suit, the technically-adept billionaire relies on the Audi R8. The leading lady, Oscar® winner Gwyneth Paltrow (Virginia “Pepper” Potts), drives an Audi S5 in the film.

Audi has developed a micro-site for the film available at www.audiusa.com/ironman.  The site includes exclusive behind-the-scenes content, interviews with the cast and crew, Audi Iron Man commercials, background on use of Audi vehicles on the movie set, etc.

06-26-08 - Audi Triumphs Again at the 24 Hours of LeMans

    15 June 2008

Ingolstadt/Le Mans – The Audi R10 TDI remains unbeaten in the Le Mans 24 Hour race: in its third attempt, the diesel sportscar won the French endurance classic yet again. After the incredible thrill of the 76th edition of the race, Dindo Capello (Italy), Tom Kristensen (Denmark) and Allan McNish (Scotland) triumphed at the wheel of the Audi R10 TDI number 2.

The widely anticipated duel between Audi and Peugeot definitely kept its promise: in front of a record crowd of 258,500 spectators, the two car manufacturers entered into a thrilling battle with their diesel sportscars which Audi finally won by a margin of 4m 31s.

During the entire race distance, the winning Audi R10 TDI and the best Peugeot 908 was never separated by more than a lap. After Peugeot initially set the pace, both the reliability and efficiency of the Audi R10 TDI gained the upper hand at night. After rain set in at Le Mans, Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish took the lead at 05:17 and held it until the finish at 15:00 hours.

On a rain-soaked track, the Audi drivers fully profited from the superiority of Audi TDI Power and led the field by a margin of one lap. In addition, they took advantage of the fact that Audi Sport Team Joest had entered the race with a set-up that was the best compromise for both dry and wet track surfaces. Whilst the opposition had to change their cars during the race to a rain set-up, Audi only needed to change tyres.

Changing tyres, however, was an exercise that was practiced frequently as the conditions changed throughout the second half of the race owing to the weather. Slicks, intermediates, and rain tyres – it was crucial to take the most suitable tyres at the correct time.

Audi Sport Team Joest and the Audi drivers fully exploited their experience and operated faultlessly. The only frightening moment occurred in the dramatic final phase when there was a collision between the leading car and a backmarker involving the innocent Tom Kristensen. In that situation, the sheer strength of the Audi R10 TDI became visible as well. The car ran faultlessly without the slightest technical lapse during the 24 hours.

Scotsman Allan McNish scored his second Le Mans victory after his inaugural 1998 triumph – 2008 being his first win with Audi. Tom Kristensen, from Denmark, extended his existing record to eight Le Mans victories now. Italian Dindo Capello won for the third time after 2003 and 2004.

For Audi Sport Team Joest, it was the third successive victory with the Audi R10 TDI. Thus, a hat-trick has been achieved for the second time after 2000, 2001 and 2002: three Le Mans victories achieved by one team. The Le Mans winners’ trophy that normally needs to be returned 12 months after each single victory is therefore in the possession of AUDI AG for good.

The other two Audi R10 TDI cars finished fourth and sixth. Youngsters Lucas Luhr, Alexandre Prémat and Mike Rockenfeller were in contention for a podium finish until shortly before the end and had previously occupied third place. In the penultimate hour of the race, however, the oil filter of their V12 TDI engine had to be changed.

Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner also encountered bad luck: the winning trio of 2006 and 2007 lost all chances for a better result on Sunday morning when a clutch had to be changed owing to a spin and the subsequent re-start in second gear.

In its tenth attempt, Audi has won the Le Mans 24 Hour race for the eighth time. Since 2000, Audi technology has been victorious at Le Mans. "This was a success of drivers, team and the efficiency of the Audi TDI technology – a triumph of reliability”, said Rupert Stadler, Head of the Board of Management of AUDI AG who followed the race at Le Mans personally in the Audi pit garage. "It was the most tense Le Mans race I remember. We had a very strong opponent who had an extremely fast car. But once more, it became obvious that Le Mans particularly rewards reliability and efficiency. I am proud of this team. And every Audi employee and customer can be proud, too.”
